TEGG Service: Leading the Way in Electrical System Protection and Maintenance

TEGG Service is a specialized franchise offering comprehensive electrical preventive maintenance and testing services. Established in 1993 and headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, TEGG has built a solid reputation for reliability and technical expertise. The brand began franchising in the same year it was founded, quickly becoming a trusted partner for businesses seeking to protect their electrical infrastructure and ensure safety and compliance.

TEGG’s service model centers on proactive electrical system management. Franchisees deliver a wide array of solutions that include system diagnostics, routine maintenance, repair, replacements, and performance enhancements. This preventive approach helps clients reduce the risk of system failures, extend the lifespan of their equipment, and avoid costly unplanned outages.

The franchise supports both low- and high-voltage systems, covering everything from telecommunications and data communication networks to indoor/outdoor lighting and surge protection. TEGG also services electrical motors, power conditioning and monitoring systems, emergency lighting, fire and security alarms, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and energy conservation systems.

Training

The TEGG Service franchise provides several types of training programs for franchisees, each tailored to support operational readiness and ongoing development:

  1. Initial Training Program
TEGG Service Franchisor offers initial training at no additional tuition fee for general participants, but charges $2,350 per electrician/technician for Infrared Level 1 and Level 2 certifications. This training occurs at the Pittsburgh, PA facility and other locations, and also includes access to online modules. It encompasses areas like General Management, Technical Operations, NFPA 70E Safety Training, Sales, Power Quality, and more, utilizing audiovisual tools, labs, and role-play exercises.
  2. TEGG University
Franchisees and their employees receive access to TEGG University, a centralized platform that houses a comprehensive repository of training and development resources. This includes classroom and self-paced learning modules tailored for continual skill enhancement.
  3. Refresher and Additional Training
The Franchisor may periodically offer refresher courses and other training initiatives without tuition fees. While optional, franchisees are encouraged to participate. If conducted at the franchisee's location, costs include instructor rates, travel, and accommodation expenses. Additional training beyond this can be arranged at agreed rates and locations.
  4. Role-Specific Training
All key personnel, including the General Manager and technical professionals, must complete initial training to the Franchisor’s satisfaction. Successor managers or newly appointed staff are also required to undergo this program.

Territory Protection

TEGG Service franchisees are granted a defined territory referred to as a "Primary Marketing Area" or a "Shared Marketing Area." While this does offer a level of territorial protection, it is not considered exclusive.

Franchisees in a Primary Marketing Area typically receive assurances that the Franchisor will not authorize other TEGG franchisees to operate within that area, nor perform TEGG services themselves.

However, franchisees should be aware that this protection is limited. In a Shared Marketing Area, multiple TEGG franchisees may operate and compete, and the Franchisor reserves the right to engage in or authorize overlapping activities.
