Training

Silbar Security provides a structured and multi-faceted training program to its franchisees, designed to ensure operational competence and brand consistency. The types of training provided by the franchisor include:

  1. Initial Training Program
Silbar Security requires franchisees and their key personnel to complete an initial training course in Chesapeake, Virginia, or another designated location. This training typically lasts five days or until the franchisee demonstrates full competence. The franchisor covers air travel for up to two individuals and hotel accommodations for one room, while the franchisee handles local transportation and meals. Attendance and successful completion of this training is mandatory before the franchise can begin operations.
  2. Training Materials and Manuals
The initial training is conducted using the Operations Manual, training books, handouts, and on-the-job field training. These resources provide detailed guidance on business operations and brand standards.
  3. Training for Senior Management and General Managers
Franchisees may enroll senior management and general manager personnel in the initial training upon approval. These individuals must also successfully complete training to be eligible for franchise operations.
  4. Ongoing and Additional Training/Seminars
Silbar Security may require attendance at additional training sessions or seminars, either in person or electronically. These sessions may incur a fee of up to $250 per person per day, in addition to travel and living expenses.
  5. Operational and Employee Training Support
The franchisor offers support for operational issues and advises franchisees on hiring and training employees. Franchisees are responsible for ensuring that their employees are properly trained, licensed, and certified according to applicable laws.

Territory Protection

Silbar Security offers a defined territory to its franchisees, providing a degree of territorial protection. Each franchise is assigned a specific geographic area, typically determined by zip codes or natural or political boundaries, and generally includes a population of around 500,000 people.

The franchisor outlines this territory in Schedule 1 of the Franchise Agreement. While Silbar Security does grant territorial rights, these are not absolute.

The franchisor reserves the right to relocate a franchised business if it determines that changing conditions justify such a move. Additionally, approval for opening additional outlets within the same territory is generally not granted unless the franchisee demonstrates sufficient capacity and resources to manage expansion.
