Island Fin Poke: Revolutionizing Fresh and Flavorful Dining

Island Fin Poke Company, inspired by the vibrant Hawaiian lifestyle and flavors, was established by Mark Setterington to bring guests a tropical island experience through its fresh and creative poké dishes. Launched in 2017, Island Fin Poke Company began franchising in September 2018. Since then, the company has rapidly expanded, offering a unique mix of homemade sauces, over 25 toppings, and sustainably sourced proteins to its growing network of franchises across the United States.

The headquarters of Island Fin Poke embody the essence of 'Ohana,' the Hawaiian term for family, emphasizing community and a sense of belonging in every interaction and service provided at their locations. The franchise model is designed with intelligent investment in mind, featuring compact, efficiently designed restaurants that range from 900 to 1,500 square feet.

This thoughtful design allows for a greater allocation of space to guest areas, creating a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring operational efficiency. Prospective franchisees can choose between owning a single-unit franchise with a protected territory or opting for area development franchises to open multiple Island Fin Poke locations, thereby expanding the brand's presence and embracing the 'Ohana' spirit in new communities.

Island Fin Poke stands out in the competitive fast-food industry by offering healthy, convenient meals that align with the growing consumer interest in wellness and nutrition. The brand's success is rooted in its commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience marked by deliciously healthy flavors, excellent service, and a strong sense of community, making it a top destination for poké lovers in America.

Training

Island Fin Poke offers a thorough training program for its franchisees, focusing on all key aspects of franchise operations, including operational procedures, management skills, and customer service. The training program consists of the following components:

Initial Management Training Program

Franchisees and their principals, including the general manager, must successfully complete the Initial Management Training Program before opening their franchise. This program, conducted at the franchisor's headquarters or an affiliated location chosen by the franchisor, ensures that franchisees acquire the essential knowledge and skills to operate their business in accordance with the franchisor's standards. The program is provided at no cost for up to two principals and one general manager prior to the franchise opening.

Opening Assistance

To ensure a seamless start, the franchisor provides on-site opening training, supervision, and assistance for up to seven days at no additional cost to the franchisee.

Additional Training and Assistance

The franchisor may also offer both mandatory and optional additional training programs. These can include up to four days of ongoing training per year and participation in a national business meeting or annual convention for up to three days per year. Franchisees are responsible for any incidental expenses incurred during these additional training sessions or meetings, such as travel, lodging, meals, and wages. Non-attendance at mandatory training or meetings is considered a breach of the franchise agreement.

Territory Protection

Island Fin Poke provides a form of territory protection to its franchisees. Upon signing the Franchise Agreement, franchisees are granted the right to operate their franchised business within a specific territory. The franchisor commits not to operate or authorize other franchisees to operate an Island Fin Poke restaurant within this territory using the same licensed Marks, as long as the franchisee is in compliance with the agreement.

However, this territorial protection has its limitations. The franchisor retains the right to open, operate, or franchise Island Fin Poke outlets just outside the borders of the franchisee's designated territory. The exact boundaries of a franchisee's territory are defined once the location of the Island Fin Poke outlet is identified and approved by the franchisor.

Typically, the territory is delineated by a group of contiguous zip codes, determined by factors such as the number of households, average home prices, and household incomes within the area. Despite this territorial protection, franchisees should note that they do not receive an exclusive territory. They may encounter competition from other franchisees, company-owned outlets, or other distribution channels and competitive brands managed by the franchisor.
